Becky Ondra (a good friend of mine whom I've known since I was in elementary school) wanted to do another project with me - last year we did a set of photos on a playground. Over her Winter Break (2005-2006), or maybe it was Spring Break, we discussed some ideas - and I wanted to get messy with paint. Apparently I'm obsessed. But I wanted to make it bigger and better than anything I'd done on my own. Somehow this idea came about, of an artist creating a painting and becoming one with the canvas... something documenting the process. So what, exactly, is the piece of art? The canvas? The artist as the canvas? The photographs of the artist and the canvas? There are no rules.
It was a freaking blast. Many, many thanks to Becky for helping me to make this happen - I don't think there's another photographer I could have created this with. It was hard to stop laughing at times, because it all just got so silly. And messy!
Thank you, as well, to my mother who loaned me all the dropcloths.
